The Howler recorder+streamer MK2 is the result of listening closely to how the original model was being used since launching on Kickstarter. People shared how they were actually using it, what they were happy with, and what was missing. The MK2 addresses all of that.
Record and livestream at the same time
This was the most-requested feature by far: being able to record to the included microSD while simultaneously livestreaming. With the MK2 you no longer need to choose between recording or livestreaming. A recording can be started mid-stream, or a stream kicked off while already recording. This is made possible by significantly faster internals. The MK2 boots almost instantly, and file transfer speeds are faster too, meaning less time waiting around between finishing a session and getting the recording ready to share.
Faster and smarter
Significantly faster internals mean the MK2 boots almost instantly and transfers files quicker than ever. WAV recording is now also seamless and continuous, with no gaps between files.
Improved hardware
The redesigned power button on the MK2 needs to be held down briefly to power the device on or off, and will not shut down at all while a recording is running, flashing a warning instead if you try. It is a small change that makes a big difference when it matters most, preventing accidentally cutting recordings short. The LED indicators have been redesigned to be easier to read and to convey more information, including a more detailed breakdown of battery level. The new model is also more compact than its predecessor, making it easier to slip into a bag and bring along to a gig, or studio session.
Correct timestamps and future-proof firmware
A shortcoming of the original hardware has also been resolved: file timestamps are now set correctly, meaning recordings are accurately dated and timed, making it much easier to keep recordings organised. And when new firmware is available, updating is as simple as connecting via USB-C and visiting the Howler update page, no special software required.
Available for pre-order now
